Frequently Asked Questions

Do you treat patients outside of California?

Yes, via Telemedicine (telephone or Skype) we treat patients worldwide.

Do you accept insurance?

No, but while we do not accept medical insurance payments in lieu of fee for service, we can provide a “Superbill” (CMS 1500) if requested, so that you may submit for personal health reimbursement through your insurance company.

How will I receive the medications prescribed to me?

All prescribed medications can be sent to your address via UPS or USPS.

If I am a telemedicine patient, do I need anything else before my initial appointment?

Yes, a copy of a physical exam, performed by a licensed medical practitioner (M.D., D.O., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner) must be provided.

What is a typical starting dose of testosterone for men/women?

While no two people are the same, most women start with 20mg and men start with 200mg daily in topical (cream or gel) form. The same dose can be administered, via intramuscular injection, once a week or as directed by our providers.

What are the most used hormones for replacement therapies?

Over our 15 years in practice, Regenerative & Sports Medicine has found the most used hormones are: estrogens (estriol and estradiol), HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, pregnenolone and thyroid replacement.

What are the most common symptoms of low testosterone?

Low energy, reduced desire for intimacy, decrease in physical strength, difficulty increasing muscle, reduced muscle tone with an increase in body fat, short term memory impairment, loss of motivation or interest in activities you once enjoyed, loss of focus, lower self-confidence, and a decrease in your mood/excitement in life.

Can hormone replacement therapy help me lose weight?

Yes. When done properly, monitored by a medical practitioner, patients can achieve their weight and body composition goals and, additionally, can decrease their risk of stroke, heart attack, hypertension and cancer.

Can I travel, legally, with my medication?

Yes. We can also, upon request, provide you with a letter acknowledging you’re under the care of a licensed practitioner.

I’ve been told that my hormone levels are within normal range, am I eligible?

Yes. More important than your laboratory assays of certain hormones are your symptoms. “Normal” is not always a preferred state as, for example, it is considered “normal” for these same hormones to decrease with age along with all the negative symptoms associated therewith.

Can you help with sexual dysfunction?

Yes! There are many solutions we can offer for both men and women.

Are there side effects to hormone replacement therapy?

When your hormones are balanced properly, you should not experience negative side effects. Any potential side effects can be resolved by adjustments made to the treatment.

What are the main reasons men and women begin hormone replacement therapy?

  • To live their best/healthiest life possible.

  • To treat depression.

  • Loss of motivation.

  • Inability to think clearly.

If I choose injectable hormone treatments, can I self-administer?

While each person is different, we find most begin to experience benefits in 6 weeks.
