TRI-MIX

Intracavernous Injection Therapies (ICP) have changed the lives of many men who previously suffered from severe erectile dysfunction. Many of these men had little or no response to commonly prescribed PDE5 medications like Viagra and Cialis. ICP medications can be used to produce a very strong erection which can last the entire duration of sexual activity.

If you have been prescribed Tri-Mix or any other ICP medication, it is important that you print and read each link below. These medications are very powerful and if not used correctly they can lead to prolonged erection (severe priapism) resulting in permanent damage to the penis. If you follow your doctors instructions and understand the information below than Tri-Mix and ICP medications are very safe to use.

All patients who are prescribed Tri-Mix and similar ICP medications will be given medical support and assistance with the administration of your medication. Our medical director and team want to ensure safety for every patient under our care. Please do not hesitate to contact the clinic for assistance with your medication.

Start small with your dosage! For Bi-Mix, Tri-Mix, Quad-Mix, and Penta-Mix we recommend starting at 0.05ml (1/20th of a milliliter) and increasing slowly until erection is sustained. It is much better to require an additional injection than to take too much and require medical care for priapism!

*Attention Tri-Mix and ICP Users: IN ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR PENIS WE REQUIRE PATIENTS TO USE ONLY A 30G ½” NEEDLE WHEN USING TRI-MIX. USING A SMALLER GAUGED NEEDLE (LESS THAN 30G) INCREASES THE RISK OF BENDING THE NEEDLE DURING INJECTION WHICH WILL DAMAGE TISSUE OVER TIME. A SHORTER NEEDLE WILL NOT DEPOSIT THE MEDICATION DEEP ENOUGH THEREFORE A ½” LENGTH IS RECOMMENDED.

NEVER take Tri-Mix or any ICP injection within same 24hr period as Viagra/Cialis/Levitra or other ED meds.

Pharmacologic Category:Anti-erectile dysfunction agent

What is this medicine used for?Treatment of erectile dysfunction in males. Tri-Mix contains three drugs mixed in a sterile injection. They are:
1.) Papaverine:A drug that causes blood vessels to expand (vasodilator): it produces an erection by increasing blood flow to the penis.
2.) Phentolamine:When injected into the penis, it produces an erection by increasing blood flow to the penis.
3.) Prostaglandin E-1:A potent hormone-like substance that can control blood pressure, helping produce erections.

Reasons not to take this medicine:Do not take this medicine with any of the following medications: hypersensitivity or allergy to any component of this formulation; conditions predisposing you to priapism (painful erection lasting 4 hours or more): sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma or leukemia; anatomical deformation of the penis or with penile implants; direction by your physician that sexual activity is inadvisable or contraindicated.

Key warnings before taking this medicine?Tell your doctor if you have a condition or are taking a medicine that interferes with blood clotting.

What are the precautions when taking this medicine?Give your health care provider a list of all the medicines, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you use. Some items may interact with your medicine.

How is it best taken?Ideally, the injection should be administered just prior to foreplay. To prevent bruising, apply firm pressure to the injection site for 5 minutes after injection. It is administered via intra-cavernosal injections and should produce an erection in 5 to 20 minutes and can be expected to last up to one hour. Do not use Tri-Mix Injection more than 2 times a week; use at least 24 hours apart. There is a possibility of needle breakage with use of Tri-Mix Injection: you should pay careful attention to your doctor’s instructions and handle syringe and needle properly. If the needle breaks during injection, you should promptly contact your doctor.

What do I do if I miss a dose?Do not take double or extra doses. This medicine should only be taken 5 to 20 minutes before intercourse.

What are some possible side effects of this medicine?Mild to moderate pain during injection; painful sensation with erection; small amount of bleeding at the injection site. Call your healthcare provider if you notice any redness, lumps, swelling, tenderness or curvature of the erect penis. If you experience an erection lasting more than 2 hours, you may take 2 – 4 pseudoephedrine 30 mg by mouth once and apply an ice pack. If your erection does not go away within the next hour, seek professional help immediately. Erections that last more than 6 hours can cause serious damage to penile tissue.

How should I store this medicine? The mixture is not stable for long periods. Our studies indicate that frozen preparations are stable for a year. Otherwise keep this medicine in a refrigerator below 41°F (5°C). It is important to note that improper storage does not result in harmful chemicals: the only thing to suffer is the potency – the preparation may not be as strong as when fresh. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. Do not flush unused medications or pour down a sink or drain.
